# Start

> What Kindgi is, installing it, and your first pack.

Start here to install Kindgi, run a first pack on your machine, or add Kindgi to an app you already have.

1. [What is Kindgi?](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/introduction.md): packs, the runtime, and how your app and your coding agent work with them.

2. [Quickstart](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/quickstart.md): an empty folder, one command, and four prompts to your coding agent, to an agent that answers.

3. [Install](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/install.md): Node, Docker, and how a project gets the CLI and the SDK.

4. A first pack by hand, running on your machine in ten minutes: [TypeScript](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/quickstart-typescript.md), [Python](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/quickstart-python.md), [Java](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/quickstart-java.md) or [Scala](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/quickstart-scala.md) (preview).

5. [Add Kindgi to an existing app](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/existing-app.md): your app's own code as tools. From a Java app, [call Kindgi with the Java client](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/java-app.md) (preview).

6. [Your coding agent](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/coding-agents.md): the skills that teach it Kindgi.

7. Or let your coding agent set it all up: paste this into it, and do what it asks ([what it follows](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/agent.md)):

   ```text
   Set up Kindgi for me: read https://docs.kindgi.com/start/agent.md and follow it step by step. Tell me whenever you need me to do something, and wait for me.
   ```

> **Tip: Working with a coding agent?**
>
> Once `kindgi init` has run, your coding agent has Kindgi's skills. You can follow these pages yourself, or ask the agent for what you want: it writes the tools, agents and flows, and runs them with `kindgi dev` and `kindgi runs start`. You still name your pack and its agents, and you provide the credentials, such as your model provider's API key. [How it knows Kindgi](https://docs.kindgi.com/v0.1.9/start/coding-agents.md).
